The 2023 Agnes Cook Memorial Scholarship

The Virginia Press Women Foundation is proud to offer the 2023 Agnes Cook Memorial Scholarship. The $2,000 scholarship will help students continue to face the unprecedented challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The scholarship is open to female and male students and to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a career in journalism, photojournalism, public relations or another related communications field. Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university to apply. Full-time and part-time students are eligible, and financial need will play an important role in the selection of recipients. Graduating seniors may apply for the scholarship. Students pursuing graduate studies may provide information about the program they’re enrolling in on the application.

To be considered for the scholarship, the file containing your entry must include all of the following:
  • Three (3) samples of your work
  • A resume including communications experience and academic accomplishments
  • A signed letter of recommendation specifically for this scholarship
Please fill out the application here (or here, via Google Form) and submit it, along with other application materials, in a single PDF document. Completed applications can be sent to Scholarship Chair Robyn Sidersky at rsidersky@va-business.com by Friday, April 28, 2023. Late applications will not be accepted. If there are questions about the application, students may contact Robyn via email. The scholarship will be awarded at the end of the spring semester and the winner will be honored during the Virginia Professional Communicators’ conference.
