Amy Burns, LPC
Amy is the Counselor for the Health Sciences Campus in Marion. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, she has over 15 years experience in community mental health, working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment issues, developmental delays, relationship issues, mood disorders, and substance abuse. Amy has training in a variety of different treatment modalities, ranging from person-centered and mindfulness to trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and emotional-freedom technique, and is dedicated to assisting people to meet their goals in ways that work best for them.
Amy has been adjunct faculty in Psychology at Virginia Highlands Community College and Emory & Henry in the last 10 years. Currently, she teaches dual-enrollment Psychology courses for VHCC. Amy also provides clinical supervision for licensure. Amy is an avid writer, and her children’s book, A Goat’s Tale, which teaches progressive muscle relaxation skills to children, is available on Amazon.
