Dirk Moore

Executive Director, McGlothlin Center for the Arts Marketing and Communications

 

Dirk Moore earned his B.A. in journalism, government, and international affairs from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota before receiving his M.A. with distinction in mass communications from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

He was employed for a decade as a writer and editor at several small newspapers in South Dakota and Florida before arriving at Emory & Henry in 1993, where he began work as Director of Publications. The following year, Moore was named Director of Public Relations.

His work has been recognized with numerous awards for merit, quality and excellence by the Tri-Cities Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. At Emory & Henry, he has received The Hope Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to the College and to the community and the Maiden Award for achievement and distinctive contributions to the College.

Active in the community, Moore is the founder and past president of Project Glade, a nonprofit development organization in Glade Spring, Virginia, and co-founder and assistant director of the Glade Spring Farmers Market.
