Joshua von Castle
Josh currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Housing & Residence Life and the College’s Chief Housing Officer. He supervises the Residence Life Administrative Specialist and three Area Coordinators, who serve as professional live-in staff and supervise the Resident Advisors, Head Resident Advisors, and Community Advisors within the residence halls. Located in the McPherson Center, Josh also oversees the areas of Student Involvement, Greek Life, and Intramurals.
During his time with the College, Josh has been active with diversity and inclusion efforts on campus, especially in serving as the founding director of the Inclusion & Dialogue Center. Other positions in which Josh has served include Area Coordinator, Director of Student Activities, Interim Director of Conference Services, and an Admissions Counselor for the College serving the Southwest Virginia area and focusing on recruitment strategies for the Visual and Performing Arts.
Josh graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and English from Emory & Henry College in 2007 and completed a Master of Arts in Community and Organizational Leadership through the Appalachian Center for Civic Life in 2017. His passion is for Student Affairs with a focus on multicultural student experiences, student faith experiences, and student leadership.
