The administrative assistant to the Vice-President of Academic Affairs and the Dean of Faculty for Emory & Henry College was recently honored as the recipient of the Blue & Gold Staff Award.

The recipient, Angela Brink, has served the College for six years as a member of the Dean of Faculty staff.

The Blue & Gold Staff Award was created to recognize outstanding Emory & Henry employees who go above and beyond the call of duty -- not only in their respective positions, but in the College community as well.

“Angela has been through three deans,” said President Rosalind Reichard. “She’s someone I can always turn to when I need help with the staff. She’s one of the first people to always volunteer to help.”

E&H student Toineeta Saunooke nominated Brink. In her letter to the selection committee, Saunooke pointed to Brink’s work with the Venturing Crew (a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women).

Brink exemplifies “what it means to be part of the college community,” wrote Saunooke.

Brink completed her bachelor of science degree in business administration from Emory & Henry in May 2012. She is currently taking classes to obtain her master’s degree in business administration.

“This mean’s a lot,” said Brink. “I do what I do because I enjoy doing it. We have great students here, and I get to know them on another level. It’s special.”

When asked about the importance of the Blue & Gold Staff Award, President Reichard said, “It’s so important to me that we support all of our employees. The quality of the learning environment here at the College is very dependent on the work of the staff. They influence our students in a multitude of ways, and it’s so important that we provide support to them.”

The Brink family tradition at Emory & Henry continues with her son Chad who is nearing completion of his first year as a student.

If you know an Emory & Henry staff member who has performed exceptionally in his or her role and would like to nominate that employee for the Blue & Gold Staff Award, contact the Human Resources Office by the last business day of each month.
