Dr. Bier is a field geologist with interests in tectonics, structural geology, petrology, environmental geology, and science education. Her research focuses on structural geology and tectonics of the Appalachians and the North American Cordillera. She was a park ranger at Lava Beds National Monument and has taught field camp in the Canadian Cordillera and in the western U.S. (Idaho, Montana, and Utah). Since arriving at Emory & Henry, she has taught Physical Geology, Environmental Geology, and Hydrology which are all field-intensive courses.
