Dr. Withers serves as Director for the McGlothlin Center for the Arts at Emory & Henry College, in addition to teaching in the Music Department.  A past recipient of the Jean F. Ritchie Fellowship in the Fine and Performing Arts from the Appalachian College Association, she performs solo and collaborative piano recitals and gives piano master classes throughout the region. She is a past President of the Virginia Music Teachers Association and has research interests in mindfulness and self-compassion in pedagogy, new music, and chamber music. Withers teaches private and class piano, music theory, and music history at Emory & Henry, in addition to teaching a courses on Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Mozart operas in the general education curriculum.
