Youth Rugby Camp
Emory & Henry announces two coed athletic camps for youth to improve their skills playing rugby with coaching legends! The camps are for students interested in learning more about rugby and opportunities to play in college. Rugby is an inclusive sport that emphasizes both individual improvement and team-building skills.
High School, 9-12th grades: June 15 at 9 a.m-June 16 at 3 p.m., Overnight, $100
Middle School, 6-8th grades: June 17, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Day Camp, $50
The camps will be held at Emory & Henry College grass field behind the baseball field off I-81, exit 26 in Emory, Va.
The camps are coached by E&H head rugby coach and recipient of the Cardinal Rugby Conference Coach of the Year Award Tom O’Neill with guest speaker David Dixie Dean player with the USA Eagles 7s squad from 1990-1997 with more than 80 caps. Dean played in National championship tournaments 1987-2003 and is the highest scorer in USA Rugby national 7s championship to date. Learn rugby fundamentals: passing, tackling form, rucking and team play.
Co-ed teams will form to compete against each other.
